The Tao and Life’s Cycles

One thing that is inherent in the Tao is that it has cycles. We see that with the seasons. We can view the natural cycle of the seasons as a series of increases and decreases. Spring start growth anew. Summer sees continued growth. Fall begins a decline and winter is a slow season of rest.

Similarly, our lives work in cycles. We are born, we age and die. But along the way, we also experience times of growth and times of decline. Perhaps we have money problems. Eventually, if you remain steadfast, these problems subside and we again experience growth-perhaps a new job or an unexpected windfall

We cannot escape these cycles. To resist then is a mistake. That is part of “not doing”. Trying to fight them is like swimming against the current. That can leave us weak I is not easy to simply wait for things to improve, but when one follows the working of the Tao, we must do that. Right now,I am in such. A downturn. I have tried to work out of it. Last week, my efforts came to naught. But, I know that when something I try isn’t working, I back off-knowing that further pushing is useless. Today, I discovered why they didn’t work. I had situations that needed attention that I was not aware of. Because I was not able to “fix” the problems before, I was able to address them today! Ree slump is not over but, I can see the cycle is turning. Namaste.
